In January 2011, shipping volumes on Russian Railways’ network reached 97 million tons, up on the same month in 2010 by 10.6%.
Shipments in January 2011 loaded with the percentage change compared to January 2010:
• coal - 25.6 million tons (+10.3%)
• coke - 10.5 million tons (+10.7%)
• oil and oil products - 22 million tons (+10.5%)
• iron and manganese ores - 8.6 million tons (+11%)
• ferrous metals - 6.3 million tons (+11.2%)
• chemical and mineral fertilisers - 4.2 million tons (+11.1%)
• cement - 1.5 million tons (+13%)
• timber - 3.3 million tons (+11%)
• grain and ground products - 1.2 million tons (+9.8%)
• construction materials - 9.3 million tons (+15.7%)
• non-ferrous ores and sulphur feedstock - 2.1 million tons (+11%)
• chemicals and soda - 2.4 million tons (+10.6%)
• industrial raw materials and moulded materials - 2 million tons (+9.8%)
• containerised cargo - 1.3 million tons (+10.9%).
Cargo turnover in January was 170.9 billion tariff ton-km, an increase of 19% on January 2010.
